Rajan Dey

By qualification Rajan is an Electrical and electronics engineer, by profession he is a consultant but by passion he is always an artist.

Rajan had been painting in various mediums like watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel for many years now. His early interest in art was cultivated during his school days where he had won several accolades and scholarships.

After school, he had to suspend painting for several years due to higher studies and work-related pressure. Painting had resumed after decades when he started to develop interests in his child and since then it had never stopped and will hopefully continue for many more years. He has won several awards both at national and international level. He has also been part of several group exhibitions.

Commentary on Artwork

Venice is always one of the most painted city by many artists and I am no exception. I have painted so many paintings of Venice and all are excellent. This one is one of my favorites as I could capture the mood, light and shadow and perspective in the way I wanted it to be. This painting also has all the elements that as an artist, I always want to have. Like the buildings, clouds, sky, land, boats and human figures. I hope you love it.

Commentary on Artwork

I love to painting cityscapes as much as I love to paint seascapes and landscaped. It is not so easy to capture the mood within concretes and hence you need some elements like cars, people, light and shadow to create a mood from it. Here I present cityscape painting of New York city where taxis are seen on the street and people walking along the pavements. I have used artist watercolor paints from Sennelier, Winsor&Newton on Arches 300 gsm watercolor paper.
